Ronald McDonald House New York proudly recognized James McAvoy with a room named in his honor. In addition to his uplifting visits with the children, James raised significant funds for the House through a global auction he spearheaded following an appearance at the Oscars with help from dozens of his fellow A-listers, a massive toy drive, and the donation of unique movie memorabilia and photos he’d collected over the years (including the shirt he wore as Professor X from X-Men). We can’t thank James enough for his love and support, which means the world to all of us!

The NYC Navy SEAL Swim is a multi-sport open-water swimming event that brings together hundreds of SEALs, veterans, and first responders to honor those who put their lives on the line for our nation and in memory of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. The swim benefits the Navy SEAL Foundation, which supports our nation's most elite warriors, veterans, and their families. Special thanks to Chris Pratt and Taylor Kitsch, stars of the hit Amazon series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, for championing the 2025 NYC Navy SEAL Swim and for their tireless support of our veterans and servicemen, both on screen and off.

Close to 375 Navy SEALs, first responders, veterans, and patriots participated in the grueling 2025 NYC Navy SEAL Swim. Together they raised almost $1M to benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation!! The annual event is spearheaded by the indomitable Bill Brown; hero and friend to many. Thanks to NY Waterway, MDC had a private ferry to escort close to 80 families from Ronald McDonald House New York to the event so these young cancer warriors could cheer on our nation's most elite warriors. Thanks to Andrew Hopkinson for spearheading and American hero, former Navy SEAL Jason Redman for leading a group of SEALs on board to say hello, including US Coast Guard rescue swimmer Scott Ruskan, a national hero who was credited with saving the lives of over 165 children from Camp Mystic during the recent horrific Texas flooding. Huge thanks to Chris Pratt, Taylor Kitsch, and the Terminal List cast and Amazon crew for supporting this year's swim. It was an honor to work with the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and collaborate with them for our podcast, The Search for the Silver Lining, which recognizes our nation's greatest heroes and those who've chosen a noble life of service. A few weeks ago we teamed up with the Terminal List team at Amazon, USO, and CMOHS to have Dan Murphy (father of Medal of Honor Recipient Lt. Michael P. Murphy) present Taylor Kitsch with the Bob Hope Award for his positive portrayal and support of our military through his work. Thanks to everyone at Grabeski AFB for all you do and for hosting this special event.

MDC was honored to host a special advanced screening of the new live action film, How to Train Your Dragon, for kids and families from Ronald McDonald House New York. Guests were treated to a surprise visit and Q+A from the film's stars: Gerard Butler, Mason Thames, and Nico Parker as well as director Dean DeBlois. This one was extra special because How to Train Your Dragon was the very first movie MDC ever screened for kids battling cancer back in 2010 with Dreamworks!
